UPPER PRIMARY

Deepening Knowledge & Skills: Students dive deeper into subjects while developing critical thinking and problem-solving abilities. Our well-equipped facilities—science labs, computer rooms, and libraries—support independent learning.

Our Upper Primary program challenges students academically while providing the support and resources they need to excel in all subject areas and develop their unique talents.

Upper Primary Students
Grade 4 (Age 9)

The Pivotal Year

A pivotal year where subjects become more distinct and challenging, preparing students for advanced academic work.

Learning Areas:

  • English: Literature analysis, formal writing, speech and drama
  • Kiswahili: Reading Swahili texts, composition writing, poetry
  • Mathematics: Advanced multiplication and division, fractions and decimals, geometry
  • Science & Technology: Living things, materials, energy, simple machines
  • Social Studies: Kenyan geography, history, governance, economic activities
  • Religious Education: Deeper Bible study, Christian living, moral decision-making
  • Agriculture: Practical farming skills, environmental conservation

Special Focus

We introduce our Aviation Club at this level, exposing students to careers in aviation and aeronautics through hands-on activities and field trips.

Grade 5 (Age 10)

Developing Analytical Thinkers

Students become more analytical and can handle abstract concepts, preparing them for complex problem-solving.

Academic Development:

  • Research Skills: Using library resources, organizing information
  • Mathematical Reasoning: Ratios, percentages, data handling
  • Scientific Method: Hypothesis, experimentation, conclusion
  • Technology Application: Coding basics, presentation software
  • Leadership Development: Class responsibilities, peer mentoring

Enhanced Chess Program

Our Chess Program intensifies at this level, with students competing regionally and nationally to develop strategic thinking and sportsmanship.

Grade 6 (Age 11)

Transition to Junior Secondary

The final year of primary school under the old system, now a transition year in CBC, preparing students for the next phase of their education.

Preparation Focus:

  • Academic Consolidation: Strengthening all core subject areas
  • Independent Learning: Self-directed study, time management
  • Career Awareness: Exposure to different professions and pathways
  • Advanced Technology: Programming concepts, digital presentations
  • Life Skills: Financial literacy, health education, community service
